Girls Rock! Session 2 of 2013
Band Art: a workshop where campers can make their own logo, merch and learn the silk-screening processLunchtime performance by Jennah BellSkits: instead of constantly disciplining campers, volunteers put on mini-shows that teach campers lessons about sharing space and working togetherPOC Zine Workshop: campers made their own mini zines. Some were about fashion, some were comic concepts but they were all amazing little pieces of smart art.
Saturday at Roulette
Let me just say: what I saw on Saturday is exactly what I wish I could see on every stage. It was a showcase of passionate musicians wearing their insides on the outside (you know, hearts on the sleeve, guts leaking on the stage). For instance, Willow of the band Harsh Crowd (which how ultra-punk is that name) brought some true Tina Turner REALNESS! If she was wearing a wig it would have went flying. She commanded the crowd like the pro she is. I wasn't watching kids playing music on stage, I was watching people making badass music! When I say all these people rocked hard and wrote really amazing songs that I want to hear again and again, I REALLY REALLY mean it. Seriously, there were at least three songs that were radio ready. Some of my favorite musicians often talk about when they started making music (usually what parents would consider a very young age). I don't take that lightly. You shouldn't either. These people are making revolutionary music. They are soaking in the world around them and making what my dad has aptly titled "Real Rock n Roll". They are our future and I'm really excited to be a part of it.Neon MustachezzzLa Luna5 StarzThe Unknown NameWrong ChannelThe Antisocial WatermelonsNegative EnergySpaceHarsh CrowdStaceyRock Camp's final cheer for the summer
